Dr. Patrick McGarity - Pediatric Dentist in South Charlotte

Meet Dr. Patrick McGarity

Dr. Patrick McGarity has spent most of his time in South Carolina but is excited to move and serve the children and families of Charlotte! He is originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina and attended Clemson University where he graduated with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. Following his graduation from Clemson, he completed his dental school education at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He received his doctorate of dental medicine and started working as a general dentist for 3 years.

During his first three years of general dentistry, Dr. Patrick realized that he was enjoying providing dentistry the most when seeing the pediatric population. He started working at a pediatric dental office as a general dentist and confirmed that he wanted to go back to specialize in pediatric dentistry. He then returned to the MUSC College of Dental Medicine and the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston to complete a 2-year pediatric residency where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Patrick is excited to be in Charlotte and when he isn’t treating patients, he will be taking his dog Hank around the city with friends, traveling to Clemson football games, and enjoying as much golf as he can in the area!

Dr. Vari Shah Pediatric Dentist in South Charlotte

Meet Dr. Vari Shah

Dr. Vari Shah has been treating pediatric dental patients for over 10 years!  After earning her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University- New Jersey, Dr. Vari attended New York University College of Dentistry, where she pursued her dental degree. Upon graduation, Dr. Vari attended a residency program at the prestigious Hackensack University Medical Center to further refine her skills.  She joined a well-known pediatric dentistry group in New Jersey where she served as an associate for a number of years. In 2015, she moved to Charlotte, with her husband and started her own family.  She enjoys working with ALL children regardless of ability. Her special interests are treating children with anxieties and phobias of the dentist.

Dr. Vari has a passion for treating children.  Her ultimate goal is not just to deliver dental care but also to teach her little patients about the vitality of oral health. There is a strong educational focus in her work along with the management of the disease processes such as dental cavities. In an effort to help children tolerate their visits to the dentist, Dr. Vari uses behavioral techniques to help children accept dental care. Dr. Vari focuses on teaching her patients the skills that will allow them to sit appropriately in an office chair and receive treatment. She believes children can learn to receive routine treatment in a conventional manner through proper supports in the dental office but in a fun and playful manner.

Dr. Vari has a strong interest in preventative suggestions that keep conventional dentistry and medicine intact. She is always lingering in the frontier of medicine to explore new possibilities of interventions but remains grounded in evidence-based scientific procedures.

In her free time she enjoys being a wife and mother to her two children, Nivam and Ishaan.  She loves to experiment with new recipes to encourage her extended family to eat clean and fresh. She enjoys dancing and loves to try new methods on attaining fitness. She is fascinated with healthy mind, body and soul-related podcasts and then partaking in open discussions on real-world applications. She describes herself as a life enthusiast and believes happiness lies within. She looks forward to meeting you.
